SALSA CUBANA • CASINO

Cuban Salsa, also known as Casino, is a dance full of energy, musicality, connection, and flavour.

At Golem Academy, we want you to learn much more than a sequence of steps. We teach you to understand Cuban music, connect with your partner, interpret the rhythms, and enjoy social dancing from day one.

Our Cuban Salsa classes in Basel are designed to help you progress step by step, working on technique, styling, and musicality, always in a dynamic and welcoming environment.

What will you learn?

During the classes, we will work on the main fundamentals of Cuban Salsa:

Basic step and weight changes

Musical timing and song structure

Leading, following, and partner connection

Casino figures and combinations

Body technique and coordination

Body dissociation and movement

Musicality and interpretation

Tools to dance naturally on the social dance floor

As you progress, we will introduce new figures and tools so that you can stop thinking about the steps and start truly dancing with the music.

More than steps — learn to dance

In Cuban Salsa, knowing how to execute figures is only one part of the dance. You will learn to recognise different sections of the music, anticipate changes, play with accents, and use your body to interpret what you are hearing.

We will also work on the connection between leader and follower, so that communication is clear both in class and on the social dance floor.

Do you need previous experience?

No. We have groups adapted to different levels. If you have never danced Cuban Salsa before, you will start with the fundamentals and build your technique step by step.

If you already have experience, we will work on refining your technique, musicality, styling, and social dancing skills.

You don't need to come with a partner. You can join on your own, as we rotate partners during classes so you can learn to dance and connect with different people.

Why Cuban Salsa at Golem Academy?

Because we want learning to be a complete experience.

In our Cuban Salsa classes in Basel, we combine technique, musicality, connection, styling, and culture.
