Get to know us

Dance teachers in Basel. Active dancers and teachers. Our goal is to teach: both to those who are just starting and to those who want to train professionally.

Who we have learned from

In the Cuban part, we have trained with teachers like Ismaray Aspirina, Koky Aspirina, Jorge Camagüey, Héctor Oviedo, Yoannis Tamayo, and Tomás and Naomi, among many others. They are names that may not mean anything to you if you have just started, but anyone with experience in salsa, timba, and rumba knows them immediately.

And it wasn't a course that was done once: the training is continuous. That is why rumba, afrocuban, and abakua are taught here with criteria, knowing what each thing is and where it comes from, and not as a collection of steps learned by ear.

Our team

JUDIT & LUCAS

We are Judit and Lucas, professional dancers and teachers specialising in Cuban Salsa, Timba, Bachata, Cuban popular dances and Cuban Folklore. With our artistic roots in Spain and now based in Switzerland, we share our passion for Cuban dance and culture through classes, workshops, performances and artistic projects.

We have specific training in dance education and began our teaching journey at Ritmos Tarragona, where we continued developing our training and artistic experience. Since 2021, we have been teaching classes and workshops and taking part in different projects and events both in Spain and internationally.

Throughout our journey, we have had the opportunity to train and work alongside renowned dancers and teachers, as well as to be part of companies and projects such as Cía. Ritmos Tarragona (Tomás & Naomi), Afroashe Company (Héctor Oviedo) and Smash Bachata (Lucía & Sebas).

Our training also includes the study of different disciplines within Cuban dance and culture with teachers such as Ismaray Aspirina, Jorge Camagüey, Yoannis Tamayo and Héctor Oviedo, among others.

We have participated in Rueda de Casino, Timba, Son Cubano, Guaguancó and Yoruba competitions, as well as developing artistic projects and performing in Spain, different countries across Europe and Japan.

For us, teaching is about much more than learning steps. We believe in an approach that combines technique, musicality, expression, body movement, connection and an understanding of each style, creating a space where every student can learn, grow and enjoy dance.

With GOLEM ACADEMY, our goal is to share our experience and our way of understanding Cuban dance, bringing its essence, diversity and culture to our community in Switzerland.
