Rueda de Casino in Basel

Rueda de Casino was born in Havana in the mid-1950s, at the Club Casino Deportivo, which is where the dance gets its name: Casino. It spread through the city's clubs and, in the 1970s, became popular throughout Cuba through television. Learn Rueda de Casino in Basel through our regular classes and company training.

HOW IT WORKS

The mechanics are simple to explain and difficult to execute: couples form a circle, with one person calling out the commands and naming the figures aloud, while all the couples dance them at the same time. Many of these sequences end with a partner change.

LISTENING WHILE YOU DANCE

This is the hardest part and what we really train here: keeping the basic step, leading your partner and keeping your ear tuned to the caller, all at the same time.

Letting go, moving and picking up the next partner without losing the timing or bumping into anyone.

WHAT LEVEL DO I NEED?

It is recommended to have the basic step and some experience with leading before joining, because in Rueda there is no time to stop and think. If you are just starting out, the natural path is to learn Cuban Salsa first and add Rueda afterwards.
